A stylish interior, compromising stripped wooden flooring and open fireplaces, combined with a friendly, knowledgeable team of staff creates a comfortable atmosphere ideal for a romantic meal or a family get-together.
The restaurant is open every day from 8am to 9:30pm serving breakfast, à la carte, classics & favourites menus.
“a starter of spinach and ricotta ravioli with a butternut squash sauce was delicate and perfectly cooked, while fresh scallops in langoustine velouté could not have tasted better – with each soft shellfish morsel melting in the mouth”.
The menu incorporates locally caught fresh fish, excellent meats and delicious vegetarian dishes.
“our prawn and tarragon risotto with nutty, al dente rice was simply irresistible. The venison steak with Bourguignon sauce, cooked rare, was hearty but light, and superb after a breezy coastal walk”
On Fridays and Saturdays we open as Sandgate Fish specialising in the finest fresh sea food dishes. As an example you could have prawn & crab cocktail followed by fillet of sea bass served with baby new potatoes, sauté carrots, wilted Spinach & fennel salad finished with apple & berry tart served with vanilla ice cream or crème anglaise. “Do leave room for dessert. After much deliberation, we chose the coffee panna cotta with raspberry jus, which could boast just the right balance of tartness and sweetness. Across the table, the chocolate tart with roasted coffee ice cream was declared outstanding”
